In early 2020, Jerry and Kimberly contracted to buy land and have a house built by Peter J. Kuretski of Contractor’s Co-op in Pueblo, Colorado, for a grand total of $410,000. They say this was going to be their forever dream house. Unfortunately the entire experience turned out to be a nightmare due to the conniving, corrupt and disgusting excuse for a contractor!
In May, 2020, Kuretski told Jerry and Kimberly their project was approved by Pueblo regional building and he was going to start building. However, a few months later, nothing had been done. Kuretski had one excuse after another as to why he did not start the project and of course, Covid was one of his biggest excuses.
By January 2021, Covid was still going strong and work was just limping along on their home. In July, 2021, Kuretski stopped paying for the building materials and stiffed the subcontractors – even though Jerry and Kimberly were faithfully paying Kuretski.
After Jerry and Kimberly were on my radio show, other victims of Pete Kuretski and Contractor’s Co-op started coming forward. They all had similar stories going back 5-years of this corrupt contractor taking money, delaying construction and not paying bills. In some cases there were even court judgments ordered against Kuretski, which he hasn’t paid. And these problems were long before Covid!
WHY IS IT THAT CORRUPT CONTRACTORS SEEM TO GET AWAY WITH EVERYTHING HERE IN COLORADO? PERHAPS WE SHOULD START ASKING DISTIRCT ATTORNEYS AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL WHY THE CONTRACTOR’S TRUST ACT IS NEVER ENFORCED TO PROECT CONSUMERS!
