Homeowner Beata H. probably wishes she never met David Anders but unfortunately, that’s now … as they say … “water under the bridge”. Or a better description is “money down the drain”!

Beata signed a contract with Anders Construction, LLC in July of 2017. Under the terms of the contract, she was to do all of the demolition. Anders was then to complete an addition with vaulted ceilings. The contract specified that he would supply all of the materials for the project.

As it turned out, Anders skipped off the job – without notice – after doing a minimal amount of shoddy, substandard work. He put up a ridge beam and some rafters, then covered it with plywood. The work – if done correctly – would be worth around $8,000.

So this begs the question, “Where is the rest of the money?”

When Beata called my radio show for help, we contacted Anders. At first he tried to justify the money he took by saying he bought materials and performed enough labor to account for it. That assertion is absolutely ridiculous according to our experts and witnesses.

We challenged Anders to give us an accounting and show us any building materials he purchased for the job. He refused. His new defense is that she is still under contract! His latest story is that he ran into unexpected problems when he discovered her foundation will not support the addition. However, that does not justify him keeping her money!

In essence, under the Colorado Contractors Trust Act, any money taken by a contractor for job must be used for that job. Contractors are not allowed to use the money for any other reason. This is, perhaps, the most violated law in Colorado, yet seldom enforced.
